Yes, because our primary focus is to be able to accurately predict women at risk of preterm birth and intervene promptly to improve the final outcome. We identify the problem eg infection, short cervix, bad lifestyle etc, and treat the infection, assist the weak cervix with special surgical procedures, drugs etc or advise the woman on lifestyle modifications eg stop smoking and drinking. All these methods are beneficial to both the mother and the baby. In cases where premature delivery is inevitable, we are prepared to take care of the baby when it is born e.g assist the lungs for breathing .
