Question: how will your research improve the world we live in?

I’m hoping to find better ways for humans to exist alongside other species in the world and to use our resources more sensibly so that we don’t destroy everything and end up living in a carpark!

I love insects and really want to reduce the use of nasty chemicals which are used by farmers all the time to kill them. There are better ways to make sure insects don’t transmit disease or eat our food crops and even help them to help us by pollinating our food plants and trees. We just need to understand how they live and reproduce and function in the world better and this is what my research is about at the moment.
