I am too old to have done GCSEs. We had O levels and A levels – I got a range of pass grades from D up to As for both. The grading is different now as there are A stars and pupils do more A levels. It’s a lot more complicated grading system to understand nowadays, I think.
I think GCSE/A grades are important for you to get onto the ‘next stage’ such as Al levels and a degree, but I sometimes have to really think what I got in mine as they are less relevant as you get older!
I think for GCSE I got A*-C (my one A* was in art, strangely)
A level I was B-D I think. So much water under the bridge since then!
