It depends on which hormone you are talking about. If you have unusual levels of hormones, then it might be quite difficult for you to get pregnant,a s all the female hormones are essential for getting pregnant and having a normal pregnancy (such as oestrogen, FSH, progesterone and LH).

But there are many other hormones apart from the female ones. There are many hormones which stimulate growth of the baby and the placenta. There are others that affect the blood vessels in the baby and placenta. Any changes to these may cause problems to pregnancy.

A lot of people do have faulty hormones. This is sometimes because of something in your brain, but it can be that the hormones are there in your body but can’t act as they should. How you treat it depends on the problem. Hormone producing parts can be cut out or removed in other ways. Or hormones can be replaced, as in people with sugar diabetes (type 1) who are given insulin to take every day.

A lot could happen if you have a faulty hormone. It all depends on the function of that hormone.for example if a woman’s oestrogen level is low, development of the secondary female characteristics eg development of breast, ovulation and menstruation could be difficult. It could be difficult for her to be pregnant and have babies.

I agree with all of the other answers – it really depends on which hormone is faulty and what it does in your body. It may mean for example that you have to be more careful about your diet or that you are unable to reproduce properly.
